Introducing the IRON HORSE-5, a new high presure RCD from IRON HORSE TOOLS with up to 5,000 PSI static pressure rating, and the IRON HORSE-2, a medium pressure RCD. Interchangeable heads compatible for MPD, underbalanced, geothermal and H2S environments. IRON HORSE RCDs feature unique capabilities that make a real difference in the field.

• All operations directed from the control panel.

• Orbit valves controlled directly from control panel. No separate control needed.

• Bolt-on riser connection for offshore applications. No special offshore package necessary.

• High-pressure & medium-pressure heads are interchangeable on same mounting spool.

• No personnel ever under the rig floor during operations.

• Inter-lock system prevents opening of the clamp under pressure.

• Safety system prevents opening of head with loss of hydraulic fluid.

• Pressure on head is relieved from control panel on the rig floor.

• Test-proven, longer-lasting, proprietary seal elements.

• Can open and close seal element clamp in under 5 seconds.

Iron Horse Tools, a provider of rotating control devices, or RCDs, provides the oil and gas industry with one of the safest and most technologically advanced RCDs on the market today. Utilized as a first line of defense in pressure-control, the Iron Horse Tools RCD provides drillers with a device that has been tested far past the rigors of normal drilling pressure conditions.

Iron Horse started its research and development in 2013 by oilfield professionals with over 100 years of combined industry experience, the Iron Horse Tools RCD was designed with the utmost attention to detail, focusing on safety, reliability, efficiency, and ease of use. The company is based in Corpus Christi, Texas and operates and services its RCDs worldwide. Whether drilling on land or offshore, or in high pressure or low pressure environments, the Iron Horse Tools RCD exceeds all expectations.

James May is a Licensed Professional Engineer with 35 years experience as an oilfield product design engineer. He has worked on a large variety of downhole tools and surface equipment and has been actively involved with API Standards Committees and the IADC Underbalanced Operations & Managed Pressure Drilling (UBO / MPD) Committee. Over the last 15 years, James has been focused primarily on the applications of Rotating Control Devices (RCDs) for Managed Pressure and Underbalanced Drilling Applications. Throughout his tenure in the oil industry, he has worked for Smith International, Halliburton, Bowen Tool, Managed Pressure Operations, Hunting Energy Services, and now Iron Horse Tools, where he has played a key role in the development of the company’s new RCDs.

Larry White has thirty years experience in the oil industry. He worked as a senior service technician for Smith International in the RCD Department from 1985 to 2011. In this position, he worked offshore for Shell, Exxon, Chevron, BP, Marathon, Phillips Petroleum, and the Hill Corporation on Auger platforms, Bullwinkle platforms, and jack-up rigs in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Norway, the North Sea, Malaysia, and Iraq. White then moved to the RCD Technology Department of Halliburton Services and worked there from 2011 to 2013.
